Crunch time in the lab

|
The last month I have had 2 paper deadlines, so that translates to long late nights at the lab. Luckily, I am not the only one there so late working on random projects. The seniors were there toiling on their senior designs. (Yes I co-teach that class and probably the cause of them being there so late.) The PhD and master students were working on papers or class projects, etc , etc.

I admit, I love this time of year. Tension fills the air, no one is sleeping, random conversations take place while shooting candles and caustics for 20 straight hours. There are many paper deadlines throughout the year, however this time of year is more fun when there are people you can share the experience with and bond over random things.

Kendra is hard at work evaluating video game interfaces. I think the awesome gloves make this photo.

Mark brought a tent in to save time walking home, and Nancy is giving him the thumbs up. Yet I don't think anyone actually used the tent, rather just slept on the lab couch.

I have no idea what Becky is doing, but she looks entirely too happy burning peeps. Nancy and "Other" Nancy are super excited at this notion as well. Luckily for all of us they did not set off our smoke alarm.

Aline has been working on her 563 project too late, and I think was just hiding behind our printer again. She's a first year, we cannot give her a real desk area now can we.

Liming was attempting to explain to me how smoothing was the solution to his paper's problems.

Nancy (I actually shot this with her D40 with my 70-200 VR on it randomly). It may not look it, however this is Nancy at 2-3am(ish). Personally, I look like a wreck after working all night.

Full Moon

This is last month's full moon. Photographing the moon this close is nontrivial, however I think these shots actually came out alright sharpness wise. I think I finally figured the mystery settings out, so the next time I photograph the moon, I have a couple ideas for composition.

Cherry Blossoms (Washington, DC)

|
This year, I think I picked a sub-par day to travel to Washington DC to see the cherry blossoms. The blossoms were great, the weather was horrible. The sky was overcast and half way through our walk it started to drizzle. Booo. I've not been down in 2 years to see them, so it was fun to walk around DC again.

Here are a couple shots from the day:

Bralczyk Family

Last weekend I went over my buddy Joe's house to watch the Flyers game and took some photos of their kids. I previously captured little Gavin back in the summer, he has definitely done a lot of growing since then. The shoot was fun, we did a couple portraits of each of the kids and some shots together. I swear Kylie somehow had 3 wardrobe changes and 3 sets of props, she is quite the little starlet.

Classic "like father like son" pose where they both have a deer in headlights look... I had to include it...
